Parliament Monsoon
National News: Opposition Protest Against New Bill: Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha today, i.e., on Wednesday. However, the opposition strongly opposed it and tore copies of three major bills and also threw pieces of paper at it. The Center objected to this conduct by the opposition and said that MPs should not disrespect the mandate and should contribute to the debate and discussion.
Questioning this conduct by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, he said that the public sends us to work; does the opposition come to create a ruckus? MPs should not disrespect the mandate and should contribute to debate and discussion.
This provision introduced by the Home Minister said that whether it is the Chief Minister of the state or the Prime Minister of the country, if he has any serious criminal charges against him and he remains in jail for 30 consecutive days, then he will have to resign from his post. After the introduction of this bill, there was a lot of uproar by the opposition in the Lok Sabha.
The opposition accused the Center of being 'bent on creating a police state' through these bills. MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that I oppose this bill. However, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor once again deviated from the party line and called this proposal of the government appropriate.
While introducing the bill, Amit Shah said that the government proposes to send it to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). However, due to continuous statements, the atmosphere of the Parliament became tense.
There is no rule in the Constitution to remove a prime minister or a minister under serious criminal charges. This bill proposes amendments in Articles 75, 164, and 239AA so that ministers at the central, state, and Delhi government levels can be removed if they are arrested for serious crimes.
